This place made my heart sing from day one for how its people hold with love and how its spaces welcome. A room, an atelier facing the mountain, a pathway to the forest and a gigantic kitchen… the perfect setting to explore the Tuscan landscape and its plants.
In August 2024, I started some textile experiments working with elderberries, wild carrots and oak leaves that I collected in situ. In preparation for their PicNic Stellare event, the hosts suggested that I work on some blankets for people to sit on and watch the stars. This process involved morning walks into the forest to source the dyes, plants simmering in tune to create our colors in the kitchen, residents drawing in the courtyard on paper stencils and long-hand printing sessions in the atelier. A collection of 12 blankets, 3 colors and 4 variations were created, for habitat to keep forever.
