Woven on site with local materials, reflecting the know-how and contexts in which they were created, the basketry reflects the link between humans and their environment.
At the invitation of Serge Bahuchet, professor and researcher at the Musée de l'Homme, we chose this universal technique to showcase his ethnographic collection. It was important for us to propose a horizontal curation, where all objects are put on the same level, of equal value, regardless of their price or provenance. The website has two search modes: the user can explore it either through the objects in the collection or by the categories defined (techniques, uses, materials and contents) and it becomes a learning platform for this craft. The illustration work has been an important part of this project and allows a poetic and sensitive narration of the basketry.
